Great Job For First Day!!!

Good job today, band! You made it through a perfect practice, though things were shaky at the start, but you guys showed me how you can pull together to get something done by the end of the day. I watched you guys grow pretty fast in your marching skills, going from a hazy, wet morning to a scorching afternoon. Great job again guys! Keep up the great work that I have seen today, and keep that kind of strive going through the whole season!

2011-2012 year

Summer is pretty much complete and the school year is fast approaching.  In a week Band Camp will be begin and officially start the matching band season.  This years Drum Major is Zach S.  Zach is a Senior at Talladega High School and plays the tuba in the band.  This summer he attended Spirit Drum Major Camp in Montgomery where he finished  2nd place overall and did an outstanding job.  We look forward to a wonderful year and what Zach has to offer to the Talladega High School Band.  He will take over the blog from previous Drum Major Blake.

Drum Major Auditions...

Not only are dega darlin auditions next week, but also drum major auditions. If you stay after school this week I will work with you on conducting and leadership basics, and next week we will have an instructor; therefore, it doesn't matter if you don't know anything about conducting because you will learn everything you need to know before auditions. If you are interested in becoming the drum major then talk to me and I will teach you some things and have you ready for when the instructor comes next week. Thanks... :) The position of drum major is much more than conducting. The responibilities also include strong character, leadership and being a good role model and friend to all band kids not only during marching season but year round. I encourage anyone with true passion for music and the desire to lead to participate with the drum major auditons. And Remember, Anyone can lead, but those who don't have made the descion to follow...- Blake...

Practice!

I encourage everyone to practice for the competion on Wednesday. We are playing very well but there are a few individual problems that we need to address at home; all it would take would be a little bit of homework.

Mardi Gras Parade...

I hope that everyone comes out to support the THS Jazz Band tomorrow in the Mardi Gras Parade. Jazz band members remember that we are meeting at Zora Ellis tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.. Those who need their instruments can meet Mr. McDaniel in the bandroom at 9:30 tomorrow. If you forgot your instrument that will be the ONLY chance to get it. Either Mr. McDaniel or I will notify you if the parade gets canceled due to iced roads... The parade begins at 11:00 for anyone who wants to attend.

Snow Day!!!

No school tomorrow guys!!! :) Trumpets don't forget about your sectional after school today. Everyone have a safe weekend! :)

The county exhibition was wonderful last night. Everyone played wonderfully! :)

Practice at Harwell is gonna be great! :)

Talladega High School Seniors and Drum major.

Congratulations to the Dega Darlins for superior ratings and a 1st place finish.
Congrats to Blake (Drum Major) for his Superior Rating.
And Congratulations to the ENTIRE THS band for the Superior Rating you earned and your 3rd place finish! GREAT JOB GUYS!

Reminders.....
1. Water. Drink water often. (no carbonated Drinks)
2. SUNSCREEN
3. Bug Spray.. for those inclined.
4. Don't forget ALL equipment.. towels too!
5. Lunch... we eat at Band Camp... not allowed to leave.
6. Don't forget your Themes.... and have fun with it.
7. Fees are Due.
8. Check Dega Band Often.
